It Is High Time That Turkey Became A Partner Of SOCAR

Azerbaijan became an entirely new country with the support given by Turkey in the passage of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan petroleum pipeline following the independence of Azerbaijan. The fraternal relations between the two countries were reflected on their trade and energy relations and and as a result SOCAR, the Azerbaijani state energy company, started to make huge investments in Turkey. However, SOCAR’s becoming a large corporation and taking on investments in countries other than Azarbaijan and Turkey brought the risk of a conflict between Ankara and Baku. This problem can only be solved by having an energy company in Turkey buying considerable amount of SOCAR shares urgently. Otherwise, the bilateral relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan may suffer.
