21. Century Turkey Institute starts a new series of debates on Turkey’s security.
The Incek Debatesis intended for an open and in-depth analysis of issues having an impact on Turkey’s defence, security, foreign policy and international relations, in a multinational setting. These debates will bring together foreign experts working in related fields, public servants, officers and other officials in foreign embassies in Ankara with Turkish scholars and researchers, journalists, MPs, former policymakers, advisors, diplomats and other practitioners, and held in English.
The Incek Debateswill serve as an informed and independent voice in policy debates by providing a constructive forum for exchange of ideas and information between key stakeholders. The main aim is to develop and improve mutual understanding in perceptions, policies, interests, limitations and hurdles, thereby contributing to a better decision-making environment in which regional security and stability as well as Euro-Atlantic relations can be more efficiently dealt with.
The inaugural Incek Debate, in the form of a panel, has been scheduled to take place on Thursday 25 February 2016 at 2pm, on ‘How to Contain the Turkey-Russia Crisis’ with participation by former MP, Ambassador Dr. Onur Öymen, Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Karasar of Atılım University and BG (Ret’d) Dr. Oktay Bingöl of Başkent University. The debate will be followed by Q&A period and the Chatham House rule will apply.
